Sailors Washed out of Biscayne Bay

Sailors and their coaches made the most of their down time for the third consecutive day, as rain showers and little breeze put a dampen on the racing outlook on Wednesday. Patient Sailors Wait for Breeze Again on Tuesday

For the second consecutive day, racing is expected to be delayed until the wind fills in on Biscayne Bay.

The Women’s and Men’s 470 were scheduled to start at 10:00 and 10:15 am, respectively. Eight classes were scheduled to begin between 11:00 and 11:15 am. Four classes are scheduled to start later this afternoon. View the updated schedule (Subject to change).

Breeze is expected to hold light today until about 1:00 pm when a 5 knot build is expected out of the southeast. With the sea breeze, pressure will max out around 8 knots later this afternoon. Temperatures in the high 70s.

Light Wind Specialists Hold Early Advantage

MIAMI, Fla. (January 27, 2014) – Little to no breeze created mirror-like conditions on the calm waters of Biscayne Bay Monday morning. This was not ideal for the 580 sailors representing 50 countries, who were raring and ready to go for the start of this six-day international regatta. Miami Welcomes Top International Contenders

MIAMI, Fla. (January 26, 2014) – Coconut Grove was bustling with anticipation on Sunday for the start of 25th annual ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami. US Sailing’s premiere racing event gets underway this Monday with 580 of the best Olympic and Paralympic class sailors in the world representing 50 countries. This year’s participation total is the sixth highest in event history. The six-day regatta marks the third stop on the 2013-14 ISAF Sailing World Cup series and the lone event held in North America.
